Procedure of State Home Department Attestation:

  • The original document along with the supporting documents will be submitted to the State Home department of the respective State.
  • Once the application form and all the required certificates are submitted to the Home Department, it will be sent to the Police Commissioner’s office or Collector office of the district based on jurisdiction.
  • From here the application will be forwarded to the registrar office / municipality office
  • Then further to the Taluk / Panchayat office from where the certificate was originated. Here the department will verify the genuineness of the credential by comparing the details of the certificate with their records. If found accurate, the sub-registrar office / municipality office will sanction it with the stamp
  • The document would then be returned to the Police commissioner’s or Collector office and then onto the Home Department.
  • Finally, the Under-Secretary of the State Home Department will attest it. In a few states in North India, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) would be involved in the attestation process.
